I know, we are always talking movies. But let’s face it, some of the best movies came from the 80s. And right now, these days, it seems any movie that came out during the 80s is ripe for a remake.

“Clash of the Titans” and “Red Dawn” are but two of a significant number of ’80s-related films Hollywood has brought to theatres. Joining them are Disney’s “Tron” sequel; “The Karate Kid,” “Predators,” and “Nightmare on Elm Street” franchises; a follow-up to Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street” and the Sylvester Stallone-directed “The Expendables.”

So, why all these remakes now? I think I know what it might be. Those of us who grew up watching Freddy Krueger and Mr. Miyagi are now in a position to green-light the movies we loved as children. They are developing sequels and reboots to such 80s classics as “Ghostbusters,” “21 Jump Street,” and “The Smurfs” too. 20th Century Fox will also release a feature film based on the ’80s action-adventure TV series “The A-Team” this year.

And in our constant search for the best of the 80s, I wanted to close with the original Ghostbusters trailer from 1984. Happy viewing. What 80s films would you like to see remade, redid, redone???

Tribeca is showcasing the 80s flick on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the World Financial Center Plaza in NYC. The film screening starts at dusk (approx. 8:15 pm). Relive this great story as a young Tom Hanks wishes he was big-only to awake the next morning and discover he is. But the more he experiences being an adult, the more he longs for the simple joys of childhood. Sooo, bring your popcorn and blanket because you don’t want to miss out on this great 80s classic!

During the 80s, we experienced a recession similar to the one facing the country today. McDonald’s, having a much greater level of integrity then, decided to run this ad. Take a look to see how much inflation has grown in 20 years. In fact, if you took the price of a $.39 burger in today’s dollars, it would only cost $.77! (Thank you inflation calculator: http://www.westegg.com/inflation/) There are many differences in the commercials from the 80s to today, check this one out and see what differences you find:
