80s Cartoons: She-Ra, The Princess of Power

Yes, I’m getting a little carried away. But there’s so much great material from the 80s. She-Ra was one of my all time favorite cartoons. What’s your fav 80s cartoon?

80s Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye

Haha, this just cheered me up. Who doesn’t wish they had a Transformer or were one for that matter? I mean, come on, how cool would that be. What a classic.

Toys ‘R Us…I Don’t Wanna Grow Up

Ohhh, nostalgia. Ok, so it’s raining out, and I’m feeling a little home sick. What better way to think of the ‘good old days’ then to watch some 80s commercials. This one immediately came to mind. Toys ‘R Us ‘I Don’t Wanna Grow Up.’ I can’t tell you how many times this song has gotten stuck in my head. Seriously, who wants to grow up? And, really, who doesn’t like toys? What was your favorite 80s commercial? I can think of at least 5 more. Now onto some classic 80s cartoons. Yep, stay tuned…

LA Times Highlights ’80s Fashion Icons

The New York, Milan, and Paris fashion shows were chock full of nostalgia. The Los Angeles Times Image section took a look at fashion icons from the 1980s and decided that many of these looks ‘could, like, totally work today.’

John Hughes Tribute @ The 82nd Academy Awards

John Hughes, who brought us some of the greatest movies in the 80s and early 90′s, died last year unexpectedly. What a great tribute was paid to him last night at the Oscars, including, and yes he was there, Macaulay Culkin! Check out the tribute, initiated by Feris Bueller:

Kung Fu What?! Karate Kid 2010

Ah, Daniel-san. Honestly, who thinks this Karate Kid remake (which at one point was redubbed ‘The Kung Fu Kid’) has any potential to live up to the 80s classics? Judgement day is June 11, 2010. And Will Smith’s son as the lead? Jackie Chan’s in it too, shocker. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been dreading the trailer. Oddly enough, it doesn’t seem that bad. Check it out.

A Splash from the Past… ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’

Okay, so the title sucks, that’s for sure.

John Cusack’s comedy follows a group of burned out 30-something BFFs who’ve drifted apart since high school. Trying to relive their younger years, they take a trip to Pine Valley Lodge, home of their teenage memories. After a night of vodka and Red Bulls in a hot tub, they find themselves sent back to the 80s. Now, they have the opportunity to relive their fun-loving past.

I don’t know about the whole time traveling in a hot tub concept, but show me where to go, cuz I’m down for another ‘back to the future.’

Are we ready for another Freddy? A Nightmare on Elm Street

Heeee’s baaaaack (!) in the very first trailer from the Michael Bay-produced remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” Apparently, there’s some very cool music video-like scenes. We’ll see if it comes close to the original 80s flicks…

You’re the Best – Around!

I heard one of my favorite 80′s songs from one of my favorite 80′s movies this weekend. It is Joe Esposito – You’re the Best from the Karate Kid 1 movie. Remember this? I remember just wanting to jump in the ring with him and kick the bad kid’s head off. Too bad Mr. Miyagi died, he woulda been a cool drinking buddy….
